“Hosting specialist DreamHost is looking to enter the cloud-storage market via a planned spinoff that will commercialize an object-based storage software development it calls Ceph. The software is based on the CRUSH (Controlled Scalable Decentralized Placement of Replicated Data) algorithm, which was developed by DreamHost cofounder Sage Weil for his doctorial thesis at University of California, Santa Cruz.” Read more…
