What do you do at DreamHost?
I'm working on our open-source distributed filesystem called Ceph (ceph.newdream.net). I create tools for monitoring it, using it from other other systems like Hadoop, and generally interfacing with it from clients. In other words, I'm the new guy working on a long-term solution to the extreme storage needs of a company like DreamHost.
What's your favorite part about working here?
Showing up whenever I feel like it, working in shorts and a t-shirt on the fiftieth floor, and walking into a company owner's office to ask if they want to come get lunch with us.
What's the craziest thing you've ever seen while working at DreamHost?
The look on the interns' faces when somebody started screaming about a lost MonkeyBall game.
