A sidebar is commonly a vertical section on the left or right side of the page, often containing menus and other handy widgets. However, you can also add one to the header and footer, depending on your theme. Additionally, sidebars are typically static from page to page.
To add items to your sidebar, navigate to Appearance > Widgets from your WordPress dashboard. You can use your sidebar as a navigation bar, to display recent or popular posts, link to social media, or add a sign-up form to grow your email list. Sidebars are also great locations to display ads or incorporate search functionality onto your page.
