What is an Author (User Role)?
In WordPress, the ‘Author’ user role is somewhat limited. It only has permission to carry out most of the necessary actions required for creating blog posts.
More About Authors
Each user role in WordPress is allowed to perform a specific set of actions. The Author user role was designed for regular users who work primarily with blog posts.
Users with this role can read, edit, delete, and publish blog posts. They can also upload files to these posts. Additionally, Authors can create, edit, and use their own re-usable blocks. This permission is useful for making frequently used content elements such as author bios or calls-to-action.
In the hierarchy of WordPress user roles, the Author is quite low. Only Subscribers and Contributors are below it. Authors do not have access to more complex tasks such as page creation and theme customization.
