What is a Contributor (User Role)?
In WordPress, the ‘Contributor’ user role can write and manage their own posts. However, they can’t publish them. You may assign this role to guest bloggers.
More About Contributors
Of the six default WordPress user roles, the Contributor is one of the least powerful. Only the Subscriber role is below it in the user hierarchy. Still, this is a beneficial role to have.
Since blogs are often run by a small team of writers and marketers, it’s not unusual to collaborate with other small groups or individuals. While regular staff members working for a blog may need the Administrator or Author status, these roles should be reserved only for trusted collaborators.
The Contributor is perfect for a guest blogger or a temporary writer with a limited contract. It may also be a good role for writers who are in training and require editors to look over their work before publishing.
