What is a Custom Field?
Custom fields enable WordPress users to add extra information to posts, pages, or custom post types. With custom fields, this information is stored as metadata.
More About Custom Fields
By default, custom fields are not enabled in WordPress. You can click on the three dots on your screen’s top right-hand corner in WordPress to enable them. Go to Preferences, followed by Panels. You should find a toggle button to turn them on.
Once you enable custom fields, you can easily add names and values for your additional fields at the bottom of the edit screen.
Custom fields are used for a variety of reasons. For instance, in e-commerce stores, they can display product information such as price or product details. On a personal blog, they can include fun, bonus information that will stand out to readers.
