What is an Editor (User Role)?
A WordPress ‘Editor’ can manage and publish posts, categories, links, re-usable blocks, and more. Simply put, they can carry out all the essential tasks for posts created by themselves and other writers.
More About Editors
As you may have guessed, the Editor sits between the Administrator and the Author in the hierarchy of WordPress user roles. This role is most similar to the Author role, but it enjoys quite a few added capabilities.
For instance, users with the Editor role can create categories, moderate comments, and access private pages and posts.
This role may be beneficial for multi-author sites. That’s because, naturally, the Editor typically oversees any Authors and Contributors to ensure a level of quality.
Unlike the other writer-focused roles, Editors also have the added permission to manage permanent pages.
