Matt Mullenweg is one of the original developers of WordPress. He’s also the founder of Automattic, the company that manages WordPress.com, Akismet, Gravatar, and VaultPress, among others.

On top of being one of the original WordPress founders and developers, Matt Mullenweg is also the CEO of Automattic. Automattic is the parent company behind several projects, including WordPress.com, Jetpack, Gravatar, WooCommerce, and more.
Although Automattic operates WordPress.com, the company doesn’t own the open source WordPress.org. Open source WordPress is managed by the WordPress Foundation.
Matt Mullenweg worked alongside Mike Little to develop the original version of WordPress, based on a fork of the b2 software, back in 2003. Since then, WordPress has become the most popular blogging platform and CMS in the world, used by over 40% of all sites on the web.
