DreamHost Partners With Los Angeles Start-Up Accelerator MuckerLab

DreamHost to Help Participant Companies Quickly Scale Their Businesses Through Free Web and Application Hosting

BREA, CA–(Marketwire – November 17, 2011) – DreamHost, a global full-service web hosting company, has today announced its partnership with Los Angeles-based start-up accelerator, MuckerLab (www.muckerlab.com). DreamHost will serve as the official web hosting and application hosting provider of MuckerLab for 2012.

MuckerLab is a unique, mentorship-driven organization created to help foster and grow the technology ecosystem within Los Angeles and throughout the greater Southern California area. MuckerLab’s comprehensive three-month program grants participants mentorship, office space, and financing to help get their start-up off the ground and into production. The program concludes with an investor “Demo Day” in which entrepreneurs within the program will present their business plans and early product concepts to investors for additional financing and support.

Each start-up accepted into the MuckerLab program throughout 2012 will receive one year of free web hosting services from DreamHost including fully managed servers and many other services which augment MuckerLab’s own project funding of $21,000. DreamHost is uniquely positioned to support web entrepreneurs as its developer-friendly hosting environment has been repeatedly praised for its use of open-source tools, command-line freedom, and flexibility to grow and support any web application as it grows from start-up to stratosphere.

Despite Silicon Valley’s reputation for attracting tech companies, DreamHost has been located in — and committed to — Southern California throughout its 14 year history. “When we began DreamHost we knew that Los Angeles had the talent we were looking for and plenty of infrastructure to make it all happen,” said DreamHost co-founder Michael Rodriguez. “MuckerLab’s focus on start-ups, and on Los Angeles in particular, is really a validation of what we’ve been doing since 1997. If they had been around back when DreamHost was just a twinkle in our eyes, who knows what we could have done back then.” Pausing briefly to stare contemplatively out the window and wipe a single tear from his cheek, Michael continued, “What they’re doing is just so beautiful.”

“As a one-time start-up ourselves we absolutely appreciate just how valuable the MuckerLab program is. We consider it to be an incredible resource for any tech start-up in Southern California,” added DreamHost CEO Simon Anderson. “MuckerLab’s mission of finding and supporting local tech talent is one we’re proud to support, and it will be really cool to see the next hot web application or software platform emerge from the start-ups in the program.”

When asked for comment, MuckerLab’s co-founder Erik Rannala had this to say: “We are excited to be able to offer DreamHost’s best-in-class hosting services as part of our program. In addition, our mutual desire to continue to grow and cultivate the Southern California tech ecosystem makes this partnership a very special one.”

DreamHost’s partnership will help MuckerLab in its inaugural year give Southern California’s brightest and most creative web entrepreneurs their best chance at success with the tools, knowledge, and financial support needed to get their visions off the ground. Helping web entrepreneurs realize their dream has always been a part of the DreamHost DNA and DreamHost is excited to be associated with MuckerLab.
